Jazz on Saturday

Here another post from my intensive musical life here in Bahia,

Beside listening to the spanish music of Javiera (almost 24 hours a day :)) We went to the Modern Art Museum in Salvador for a saturday jazz jam. The museum itself is situated in old complex of houses, where slaves had hard work centuries ago. Now its everything reconstructed and serves completely other purposes.

We bought some cocktails and were fine.

Manu Chao Concert

First what I want to describe is the way how we got the tickets. There were two possibilities. First was to buy the tickets on the black market just before the concert or the second to collect ten bills of any value (even one chewing gum for each bill was enough) and got to the ticket office and get the ticket for free.

After short consideration we decided for the second way :)

Of course we counted with a waiting line. But what we forgot was the brazilian system for checking the bills giving the tickets.

At the first look the queue wasn´t that long so we were waiting and waiting and waiting. The waiting was all together 6 hours long. 4 hours on the sun and 2 in the shadow. It was exhausting and I should also say that I have never done anything similar in my life for a concert ticket and I hope I´ll never do it again :)

But at the end of the day we finally got our tickets and went home full of expectations for the concert on the next day.

The concert itself wasn´t that big. There were only around 8000 people. It took place in a open air theatre in the city centre. The concert was beutiful and Manu Chao stays further on my playlist ...

The place, where I stay in Salvador

Hello everybody,

maybe you ask where do I stay all the nights in Salvador, so I´ll post some photos to let you know.

This is Javieras apartment:

Well, this is our bed. Nothing special ... Von Javieras place and the nearest beach

This is totaly empty kitchen. Also nothing special.

This is a view from our balcony. Still nothing special.

But here we go. The nearest beach is 5 minutes away from the house and it´s really special. At least for me as a Czech without any sea. Von Javieras place and the nearest beach

So now you maybe understand more, why I stay for so long in Salvador.

Festival de Verao

I decided to come to a music festival to meet the culture more. It was quite a big one with over hunderd thousand visitors. Alanis Morissete performed as a highlight. Except her there were other four brazilian bands, but somehow I wasn´t that much excited about them. Anyway brazilian music is very colourful and I´ve heard nice music already.

I went there with three friends and we had a lot of fun till 5 am. The only problem was that I planned already another trip to Morro do Sao Paulo at 6 am.

Here are some photos:

Trip to Morro de Sao Paulo

I went to the holiday resort called Morro de Sao Paulo last week. It´s a place like from dreams. We rented a room in small hotel for two nights and spent there wonderfull time. I thing the photos speak for everything. Palms were everywhere and most of all the biggest difference to Salvador is, that this place was quite safe and we could go to the beach by night without any big sorrow.

I tasted there the best cocktail I´ve ever drunken. Javiera let it prepare by her own recepture, which was shred fresh coconut with mashed strawberries, milk and white rum. It tasted like a very good milk shake for alcoholics and I really liked it.

Trip to Praia do Forte

We decided to make a trip to the next touristic resort of Salvador. This is called Praia do Forte. It´s well known for it´s program for rescue of sea turtles and nice beaches.

I went there with two friends from a hostel Bjoern from Sweden and Marcelo from Sao Paulo. We met also some girls from Chile on the day before and they agreed to come with us.

Here are some photos from the Praia and it´s turtle rescue farm :)
